Design, Arts & Crafts 1905–2005
Information signage/typography for permanent exhibition, 2005.

This permament exhibition covers Norwegian design history in the following epokes in an international context: Proto Modernism 1850–1920, Art Deco 1920–1930, Functionalism 1930–1945, Scandinavian design 1945–1965, Pop Modernism 1965–1980, Postmodernism 1980–2005.

Architect’s statement:
The task was to create a new permanent exhibition, the design and concept of which would constitute the framework of the story expressed by the 1500 objects on display, i.e. the story of arts and crafts in Norway. Modernism was chosen as the leitmotif for this backdrop, making the exhibition a coherent piece that is not in itself neutral or exchangeable, but instead creates an overarching narrative layer to the exhibition, and to the museum.
