Artwood
Kjærligheten er ham fremmed. Han er en for gold en Natur til det, 2008.
Drawing printed on PVC. 320 x 270 cm
Halvor Bodin
Originally a group exhibition called Artwood during the Norwegian Wood music festival in Oslo June 2008. The artworks were printed on large format PVC mounted in the woods of Frognerparken.
The works are also exhibited together on the walls of a barn at Galleri Green, Noresund 14–16 October 2011. Inside the gallery there is an exhibition of works by Kristin Lindberg and Marit Eken Kalager as a part of Kunst rett vest. Opening hours: 12–18.
Artists: Per Kleiva (Amerikanske sommerfuglar), Kristin Lindberg (War of Man) and Halvor Bodin (Kjærligheten er ham fremmed. Han er en for gold en Natur til det).
My work is a site-specific reflection of one of the reliefs from The Fountain by Gustav Vigeland in Vigeland Sculpture Park which is right across the park on the other side of the swimming pool. The Fountain was originally designed to stand in front of Parliament (Eidsvolls plass), the Fountain was fabricated from bronze and adorned with 60 individual bronze reliefs. Portraying children and skeletons in the arms of giant trees, The Fountain suggests that from death comes new life. On the ground surrounding The Fountain lies an 1800 square meter mosaic laid in black and white granite. It took Vigeland a great deal of time to establish the monument: from 1906 to 1947.
The title of my work is a quote by Gustav Vigeland referring to his rival Edvard Munch.
“Love is foreign to him. For that, his nature is too barren”.
In this slideshow you find the the detail from The Fountain by Gustav Vigeland. As well as
J Mascis from Dinosaur Jr. from their great gig at the festival.
